For too long, the needs of children and parents have been poorly served by successive
governments, regulators and most of all technology firms. Urgent and decisive action is needed to address the preventable harm faced by young people on social media, gaming platforms, messaging services and AI chatbots.
We strongly support the Government’s commitment to take further action on online safety.
Parents and young people want to see robust action but also have confidence that the
measures adopted will deliver meaningful and long-lasting change.

As part of our work gathering feedback to inform the next steps for online safety, Molly Rose Foundation held an ‘Open Space’ event in partnership with youth voice organisations Beyond and FlippGen. The event brought together children, young people, civil society, educators and politicians in an unstructured, non-hierarchical setting to give everyone in the room a voice – especially young people.
