Paris Marathon couple raise funds for Molly Rose Foundation

Intrepid running duo Diggory Slee and Honor Congreve completed the Paris Marathon last week, raising more than £4,000 for Molly Rose Foundation.

The pair took in the sights of the French capital, clocking up a remarkable 2hr 58 mins and 3hr 49 mins respectively.

Insurance broker Diggory, 25, said: “For me, training for the marathon was not easy as I was plagued with a calf injury that prevented me running any more than 7km… So I was just focused on getting to the start line unscathed!

“The marathon itself was beautiful, from running down the Champ Elysees to past the Louvre and Eiffel Tower.”

His partner Honor, an interior designer from North Yorkshire now living in Wandsworth, said: “It was an amazing experience but very hard.

“The crowd kept me going and the supporters/atmosphere got me through…. It was challenging but inspirational and when I crossed the finish line I felt relieved but very proud of my achievements.”

Last year Diggory, who is from Northamptonshire and now lives in Fulham, took part in the Brighton Marathon alongside Molly’s sisters Rebecca and Alice, raising an astonishing £6,800.

Chief executive Andy Burrows said: “We are eternally grateful to Diggory and Honor for their tireless efforts to support us.

“It’s a huge privilege that they have again chosen to raise money for our vital work in providing education and help around mental health and campaigns for safe online spaces for young people.”

Molly Rose Foundation also had 15 runners collectively taking part in the Brighton Marathon this year, and the shorter 10k race on April 6, raising approximately £10,000 between then.

That weekend we rolled out our Coffee for Molly mental health initiative, which saw the placement of resources in coffee shops along the running routes to encourage customers to talk about mental health.
