Two young women in Australia have raised almost £4,000 for the Molly Rose Foundation (MRF) after running an astonishing 100km.
Holly Still and Nic Scott completed the feat on May 25th in honour of Holly’s sister Heather, who took her own life at the age of 13 a decade ago.
Of her inspiration for the run, Holly said it was to: “Advocate for suicide prevention, teenage mental health and just open, honest conversations about how we are feeling.”
Writing on her fundraising page, she added: “I really hope that every person this post manages to reach, knows they have a safe person to talk to about how you are feeling – whether it be Nic or I, a stranger on the internet, a friend, family, healthcare professional; anyone. Mental health is so so important and being a listening ear to someone can make the world of a difference. Never be scared to share your feelings, you are never too much and there are always options.”
A spokesperson for the MRF said: “A huge thank you goes out to Holly and Nic for their efforts and we are so grateful to them for the funds raised.
“We are delighted they are spreading the message – which we share – that suicide can be prevented by raising awareness in the general public and by teaching children to speak more openly about their feelings.”
