The Molly Rose Foundation is delighted to announce it has joined the WeAre8 social media platform.
The platform is the world’s first B-Corp social media app, which enables users to choose to watch opt-in brand videos and receive payments to either keep or ‘pay it forward’ to charities directly.
Algorithm free, WeAre8 bills itself as ‘free from hate’ and is built around two content feeds; a private friends feed and the 8Stage. The 8Stage is an open feed of content from verified creators and publishers from around the world dedicated to positive, uplifting content. Reporting mechanisms for users to highlight uncomfortable content are in place.
A spokesperson for the MRF said: “We look forward to working with the team at WeAre8 in the hope that their algorithm-free model will, alongside robust moderation and safety protocols, pioneer a new type of social media where children are protected from harmful content rather than being funnelled towards it.”
Zoe Kalar, founder and CEO of WeAre8, said: “We are thrilled to welcome the Molly Rose Foundation to WeAre8. The work they are doing to help support young people at risk of suicide is vital and we will do everything in our power to elevate them, as well as drive funds to their foundation through our centralised wallet.
“Our partnership also represents change and hope. Social media has done irreparable and inconceivable damage to our families and society. Molly and her story has been a huge driving force for me – because the world needs better. Urgently.
“I built WeAre8 to give us all the safe social home that we deserve. Validated identities, no algorithms and free from hateful, harmful content – WeAre8 is a place of love, unity, freedom and inspiration. A place where everyone can feel seen, heard and valued. A place where we fiercely protect our people – always.
“We are transforming social media for good and it’s very exciting for me to have Ian and the wonderful team at the Molly Rose Foundation by our side. The time is now.”
